Are these UL listed?
Our cable ties meet the relevant performance specs (RoHS, tensile strength, temperature range) for commercial electrical use. They are not individually UL-listed, but UL listing is not typically required for cable ties used in conduit and panel bundling — the NEC requirement is for the conductors inside, not the ties holding them together. For applications with specific UL listing requirements, consult your AHJ.
What's the difference between 40 lb and 50 lb tensile?
Tensile strength is the breaking point of the tie when pulled lengthwise. 40 lb (our 8" black) handles standard low-voltage bundling and most general electrical work. 50 lb (our 10" and 12" black) is heavier-duty — the right call for commercial conduit, heavy bundles of NM cable, and anywhere the assembly will be under tension or vibration.
UV-resistant vs standard nylon — which do I need?
UV-resistant nylon (PA66 with carbon black additive — always black, never white) holds up to direct sunlight for 5+ years without becoming brittle. Use it for any outdoor application: rooftop conduit, exterior wall runs, attic vents, outdoor lighting. Standard nylon is fine for interior applications away from windows. All our black ties are UV-rated.
Do you have ties rated for plenum spaces?
Standard nylon ties (including ours) are not plenum-rated — they produce smoke if burned. For plenum air return spaces requiring CMP-rated assemblies, use fluoropolymer (ECTFE) ties from a specialty supplier. For non-plenum interior work, our nylon ties are fine.
